GAMEPLAY Engaging, true-to-life MyRise careers
GAMEPLAY Action could be refined further
WWE 2K23 is the best entry this long-suffering franchise has put out in nearly a decade, offering mechanically-sound action, a pair of satisfying MyRise career mode storylines, and a handful of other well-executed, if limited, additions like WarGames

GAMEPLAY A really enjoyable, breezy JRPG
technical A few translation issues
No matter whether you're a hardcore One Piece fan or a complete newcomer, One Piece Odyssey is an utter joy of a JRPG. Its combat system remains incredibly enjoyable throughout, and new mechanics provide depth and strategy in droves.
story Nostalgic moments
challenge lack of difficulty
One Piece Odyssey is a fun enough diversion for hardcore fans with ample patience, but others won't find much to drive them through the conclusion.
One Piece Odyssey is a rousing adventure thanks to its engaging combat, liberating character customization, and beautiful environments. Sometimes, design choices limit player agency, but the effect rarely lasts long.
graphics Fantastic visuals and animations
challenge No difficulty setting
One Piece Odyssey took on the tough task of being accessible to those who don’t know the source material, while also catering to the fans of the franchise. At its heart, One Piece Odyssey is a love letter to the fans, but that doesn’t stop from...
Characters Fun characters
GAMEPLAY Some repetitive exploration and backtracking
One Piece Odyssey is first and foremost made for longtime followers of the manga and anime. That said, there is enough backstory and information to keep the casual gamer engaged.
One Piece Odyssey is a great RPG when the story isn’t getting in the way of its pacing. There is so much to enjoy about the gameplay with its action and creativity, as well as the turn-based structure that is typical of this genre.
One Piece Odyssey is ultimately a story of friendship, a central theme of the series shown through the eyes of a new character to pass judgment and to understand why the bonds of this crew are so strong.
As far as games in the series go, One Piece Odyssey is one of the best if you don't mind the narrative issues. I wasn't expecting it, but it ticks all the boxes that a solid JRPG needs.
GAMEPLAY World exploration and vibrancy feels like a luscious theme park visit
graphics Oda's female character design continues to be frustrating
Fans are in good hands with One Piece: Odyssey. In fact, more anime games should be following in strides made here. On offer is a wonderful adventure that feels like a theme park visit to the series lands, old and new.
One Piece Odyssey delivers a great One Piece adventure, but without regard to the source material, is simply a good but unremarkable RPG. Hardcore One Piece fans will eat this up like a smorgasbord of Sanji’s cooking...
story A great way to tell a One Piece story for fans and newcomers
GAMEPLAY Exploration is frustrating
One Piece Odyssey is an RPG that fans of the anime may appreciate, but it isn’t without its issues. The combat is a blast with plenty of nuances to master, but the pacing of the game is painful, and exploration gets old fast.
I had a wonderful time with One Piece Odyssey. The best way to summarise it is as a breezy, easy-playing JRPG that you can knock off over several weeks and a few solid sessions.
GAMEPLAY Tons of content and lots of variety in gameplay and settings.
GAMEPLAY Too many fetch quests and it takes a while to show its full level of sophistication.
Easily the best One Piece video game there’s ever been and a genuinely fun and innovative Japanese role-player in its own right.
GAMEPLAY It is 2023. Please let games that need a save system allow us to save at any (reasonable) place and time.
One Piece Odyssey is a game that feels crafted for fans, with handholding elements present to assist even if they never played an RPG before. However, people familiar with the games or unfamiliar with the series probably won't get much out of this...
GAMEPLAY Fun and inventive turn-based combat mechanics.
music Music is a bit bland.
Fans of One Piece and turn-based RPG lovers alike will be more than pleased with what One Piece Odyssey has to offer. Its combat offers a great new spin on the genre’s trademark battle systems.

story A great story that touches old and new topics
graphics The graphics look a tad dated
The Straw Hat Pirates set out to sail the seas in One Piece Odyssey, a new Japanese RPG that offers a grand adventure for longtime fans and newcomers alike. Developer ILCA, known for a string of Dragon Quest-style JRPGs, is making its first venture into the world of Eiichiro Oda's popular manga and anime series. Characters, locations and environments are well-realized; even the characters' signature attacks and moves look killer in motion. Anime-style voice cast adds a level of authenticity that makes the story feel more like a chapter from One Piece's original run than an official adaptation.
graphics The characters are lively and well-animated, and their interactions are the best part of the game
GAMEPLAY Old turn-based battles
One Piece Odyssey is a JRPG that is based on one of the most popular animes of all time. The game is set in the world of the Straw Hat Pirates. It is a full-fledged JRPG that is packed with turn-based battles and a number of side quests. One Piece Odyssey introduces an all-new storyline that takes place on a mysterious island. There are numerous One Piece locations and sub-quests to complete. Each area has its own unique soundtrack that perfectly complements the on-screen mood. Some areas even feature puzzles in dungeons. You'll find familiar foes and animals in this game, and they all have a certain flair. As the player progresses through the game, they are able to unlock new attack animations, such as Luffy's Gum-Gum Red Hawk or Zoro's Charming Demon Sleepless Night Onigiri. These characters are animated in a way that's very similar to the TV counterparts, but they have some unique qualities that will delight players.
