graphics Stunning visual update
GAMEPLAY Knife durability can be a bit annoying
Resident Evil 4 Remake is a more mature and darker take on Leon’s Euro Trip that constantly plays with your expectations and prior knowledge. The core narrative stays true to the original, but it's not afraid to make some significant changes...

graphics Improved visual fidelity from previous entry
technical Poor Leveling/SP grind balancing
Fire Emblem: Engage falters as a follow up to what I consider to be the best the series has to offer thus far. However, despite its failings with its lackluster story and characters, the deep customization and enjoyable combat makes it one well worth
Fire Emblem Engage is a solid entry in the franchise. It’s easily the best Fire Emblem game from the modern generation (awakening onwards). I enjoyed my time so much that I’m already returning for my second, more relaxed playthrough on maddening.
GAMEPLAY The series' combat has never been better
GAMEPLAY Dialled back social sim and romance aspects may be a disappointment to some
Fire Emblem Engage is another stellar entry in this storied franchise, but it's also one that takes a noticeably different stance than its most recent predecessor. It's all about the combat this time around...
Characters Incredible cast of characters
story Main story is a bit simple
Fire Emblem Engage may not be my dream game, but it is still a damn good Fire Emblem game. The worst parts of it are merely okay, and the best parts of it paint a bright picture for the future of the franchise.
Fire Emblem: Engage will be welcomed by longtime fans who’ve felt disenfranchised by the direction of recent Fire Emblem games. The battlefields are clever and challenging, the visuals are outstanding...
GAMEPLAY Tons of unit customization, challenging but fair maps, new battle mechanics are a hit.
story Disappointing story, many characters are one-note
Fire Emblem Engage is a celebration of the rich history of my favorite video game franchise. While most new entries in the series focus on a fresh cast of characters, Fire Emblem Engage mixes its...
GAMEPLAY Amazing in-depth gameplay
GAMEPLAY Minigames feel repetitive
Fire Emblem Engage is a entertaining fun entry in the long running FE series. It will keep you hooked with its silly atmosphere and addicting gameplay. If you have ever wanted to play the video game version of an Saturday morning anime cartoon...
GAMEPLAY Robust combat features and fun ring system
story Its hub world isn’t integrated into the story that well
Focusing more on its traditional combat experience, Fire Emblem Engage is an impressive game that tries to give you a lot to play with and succeeds in feeling refreshing yet on brand.
story An interesting and engaging story
GAMEPLAY Some parts get lost in the density of it all
Fire Emblem Engage is a masterpiece of tactical gameplay design. Varied enemies, classes, combat systems, and more make it feel like the best the genre has to offer. An interesting story runs through everything...
GAMEPLAY Emblems add an interesting extra dimension
story Uninspired story
Fire Emblem Engage emerges as a decent but ultimately fairly forgettable entry in the series. It seems like a game undecided whether it wants to spend its time celebrating the past or leaving its own mark on the series, and doesn’t really do either.
GAMEPLAY The best combat system the series has seen, with meaningful changes like the Engage system
technical Overwrought customization systems that could be streamlined
Fire Emblem Engage is a bit of an odd beast; it doesn't feel like a true advancement of the franchise's formula as a whole, but it has some great elements that feel like meaningful changes.
GAMEPLAY Smooth combat system
graphics Clipping of character costumes/hair/accessories in major cutscenes
Fire Emblem: Engage is a return to the more linear Fire Emblem style of storytelling while continuing the path that Fire Emblem: Three Houses began with the graphics and combat upgrades.
GAMEPLAY Deep tactical combat system
GAMEPLAY Dumbed down social sim aspect
Fire Emblem Engage is everything that I’ve been expecting sans the social aspect, which is something that I loved. Despite that, I enjoyed the ride and I’m already think about my next playthrough, which will focus on a different lineup of characters.
GAMEPLAY A fantasy adventure road trip where you want to keep going
GAMEPLAY Running around the Somniel loses its fun 40 hours in
Fire Emblem Engage is an adventure I wanted to keep going, with characters you want to get to know even while the land is becoming mired in war. It feels like a celebration of the series' past combined with a whole new story.
GAMEPLAY Emblem Rings adds new tactical layer to combat
story Simple story
Fire Emblem Engage feels like a love letter to loyal fans of the series, providing pangs of nostalgia with recognisable characters, as well as an even deeper combat system that builds upon already solid foundations.
Fire Emblem Engage has so much to love, yet feels a little empty. With tight and tricky combat, gorgeous graphics and art, and vibrant character designs, its first impression is a good one. But as the story progresses, things feel a little soulless.
graphics Excellent art design
GAMEPLAY Tedious Somniel activities
Fire Emblem Engage is another reliable hit in the tactics series, even if it isn't as much a step forward as previous installments.

GAMEPLAY Pleasant and fun combat system
graphics Some areas are rather anonymous
Fire Emblem Engage is a fast-paced strategy RPG with a lot of cool features. It uses the famous weapon triangle to give each hero a specific advantage against their opponent, which helps add a little weight to battles. In addition, there are also multiplayer options. While Engage has all the bells and whistles one would expect from a Fire Emblem title, the game isn't quite as complex as you might think. It doesn't have the most elaborate cast, and there is a lack of social elements. There aren't enough opportunities to spend time with the characters, but there are plenty of interesting locations. While the story doesn't go anywhere, it does have some neat things to say. For example, the titular Emblem rings are a great way to bring your favorite heroes from past games to life, though it can get a bit overwhelming. If you haven't played a Fire Emblem game before, it's also a great way to get acquainted with the series' many storied characters.
