story Something more could have been done
If you're a fan of the original Dead Space, then you'll probably enjoy the Dead Space Remake. The new version of the game adds a lot of extra content to the game and provides the player with some unique features. But it also loses some of the charm that made the original so great. A lot of the claustrophobic horror of the original was removed. However, it still has a lot of scares. In addition, there are plenty of terrifying aliens called Necromorphs to keep you on the edge of your seat. Despite its flaws, the Dead Space Remake is a solid game. It isn't as good as Resident Evil 2, but it's better than the original. This version includes more tools and areas, a redesigned interface, and an improved graphics engine. One of the biggest changes in the Dead Space Remake is the inclusion of a voice for Isaac Clarke. He was a silent protagonist in the original game and in its sequels. His character has been rewritten in a way that makes him more relatable. Issac is treated as a partner by the two main characters, Hammonds and Daniels, instead of as a lone hero. Though the rewriting isn't perfect, it does help to improve the game.

GAMEPLAY Second part of the game is somewhat repetitive
Dead Space is more than just the fantasy of any fan of the original game – it feels like the developers once again wanted to prove that their game is the gold standard in its genre. The fine folks at Motive Studio tweaked the experience in...
GAMEPLAY Thrilling combat with unique dismemberment mechanics
technical Very minor bugs here and there
Taken as a whole, though, Motive Studio’s Dead Space remake is an unmitigated success that builds upon its predecessor’s story in small yet meaningful ways. It both looks and sounds phenomenal, and the Necromorphs at the heart of the horror-action...
GAMEPLAY Enhanced sensory elements that further scare you away but invite you back in
GAMEPLAY A handful of repetitive quests that have you backtracking a lot.
Dark hallways, screams in the distance, and blood splatters on the wall may not seem inviting, but Dead Space Remake manages to create an alluring adventure throughout your playthrough, even if you played it already 15 years ago.
As a returning fan that played the original countless times, Dead Space in 2023 is just about as perfect of a remake as we could ask for. It runs with the old saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” formula, but the developers at Motive Studio...
GAMEPLAY Dynamic enemy encounters are superb
GAMEPLAY Weapon switching for all weapons would be nice
Dead Space is an exceptional remake that isn’t for the faint of heart. Not only is it bloody and terrifying, it makes use of the atmosphere, both showing why the original was so good and giving players a new and thrilling version.
story It looks terrifyingly gorgeous
GAMEPLAY Map backtracking can sometimes feel restrictive
Again, it feels like we're well-served for horror game remakes at the moment, but Motive Studio's Dead Space is a horror remake done right. It really is a sublime mix of fresh and familiar, and it's freaking terrifying in its loud...
GAMEPLAY Visceral Combat
Dead Space is a cult classic that is considered one of the greatest horror games in the medium. Some may argue that the game didn’t require a remake, however, Motive Studios are faithful in its approach and improves on the original.
story Story holds up well in 2023
graphics The visual upgrade is clear, but 60 FPS comes at a heavy cost
For those who already love the franchise and are simply hoping for a spruced-up version of the original game, then the Dead Space remake is an easy recommendation, so long as you’re okay with paying the $70 price (or waiting for a sale).
The Dead Space remake delivers a truly exceptional horror game where Isaac Clarke is finally fully involved in his own adventure. This is a story-rich, gory, and more engaging experience than the original, and one you won’t want to miss.
